Today I was reminded why the work we do is so important and meaningful. The reminder also came at a time I needed it most. I student from 11yrs ago saw me walking into QT and hollered out..."Mr. Goertzen!" His name is Ari and I taught him 8th grade Social Studies & Advisory....
In a year when it can be hard to find joyful moments, today's was perfect.
So, you may not have had an "Ari" moment this year, and it may take 11yrs for it to happen (although I'm sure it won't), you, as a teacher & staff member MATTER!!!
The love, care, kindness and little breathes of life you breathe into your students is known and felt.
The end of the year can be challenging for kids as they are leaving their support structure for the last 9 months and some are entering into an unknown in their day to day lives. Soak up the little moments and joys with your kids.
We have an incredible team here, staff who love kids and take care of each other when moments are hard.
Lean into the good, step away from the negative...
What makes SHMS great is the people...not perfect people, but people who love kids and support each other!
